A delegation from Çankırı Karatekin University (ÇAKÜ) recently visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Institute of Public Relations (GIPA) as part of ongoing international cooperation efforts in Georgia.
ÇAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi highlighted the long-standing and strong relationship between Türkiye and Georgia, stating, “Türkiye and Georgia share a centuries-old bond. We believe that the international cooperation stemming from this relationship will bring valuable contributions to both countries.” He also emphasized that ÇAKÜ, with its 20,000 students, 11 faculties, and 6 vocational schools, is strategically located near the Turkish capital and boasts a significant international presence, with more than 2,000 international students and partnerships with nearly 300 universities across 85 countries.
Touching on Erasmus+ mobility, Prof. Çiftçi noted that ÇAKÜ is well-positioned within Türkiye, particularly due to its successful projects in various fields. He expressed a strong desire to expand the university’s international cooperation, especially with neighboring countries, and highlighted Georgian universities as key partners in this strategy. He also suggested that joint projects and collaborative activities would be mutually beneficial.

Prof. Çiftçi further stated, “We believe that the international initiatives launched by Çankırı Karatekin University will resonate strongly across neighboring countries. We also place great importance on facilitating educational mobility for our students and faculty, especially with nations sharing historical and cultural ties with Türkiye.” He underscored the university’s commitment to expanding joint undergraduate programs and expressed hope for future collaboration in graduate programs as well.

Prof. Jaba Samushia, Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, emphasized Türkiye`s growing influence in education and higher education, noting the importance of fostering international cooperation between universities. As part of this collaboration, the two universities have agreed to organize an educational summit in Tbilisi or Çankırı in the near future, bringing together rectors from the region to further enhance educational partnerships.
Prof. Maka Ioseliani, Rector of GIPA, expressed delight over ÇAKÜ’s visit and stressed the importance of establishing a partnership with the university. “ÇAKÜ is the first Turkish university to visit us at the rector level, and we are excited about the opportunity to collaborate. The dynamic and productive academic staff at ÇAKÜ offers great potential for our mutual success,” she stated, noting the significance of establishing joint international projects.
