Çankırı Karatekin University hosted its first International Staff Week for the 2024-2025 academic year, organized by the Erasmus+ Coordination Office, from October 21 to 25, 2024. The event brought together academic and administrative staff from various countries to Çankırı, fostering opportunities for collaboration, information exchange, and cultural interaction.
Participants from countries such as Turkmenistan, Uganda, Senegal, Somalia, and Palestine had the opportunity to experience firsthand the academic and cultural atmosphere at Çankırı Karatekin University. Staff members from partner institutions—including Turkmen State Institute of Culture (Turkmenistan), Makerere University (Uganda), Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (Senegal), Benadir University (Somalia), and Al-Quds Open University (Palestine) engaged in discussions on academic and administrative matters, strengthening ties between the universities.
As part of the event, three academics delivered lectures at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Tourism. Additionally, two administrative staff members participated in training sessions at the International Relations Office and in the orientation program at the university’s main campus. This mobility initiative not only contributed to the university’s internationalization efforts but also laid the foundation for further cooperation between institutions.
Rector Çiftçi Highlights the Importance of Sustainable Cooperation
In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi emphasized the university`s commitment to internationalization and the importance of increasing mobility for students and staff through programs such as Erasmus+. He stated, “The international weeks we organize annually through Erasmus+ are crucial not only for exchanging ideas but also for strengthening inter-institutional dialogue and establishing long-term collaborations. We will continue to expand and enhance our international partnerships in a sustainable way.”
Rector Çiftçi also expressed his solidarity with the people of Palestine, noting the ongoing difficulties they face. He reaffirmed the university’s support, stating, “As Çankırı Karatekin University, we regularly organize activities related to Palestine. We hope for an end to the Israeli attacks and for peace to prevail in Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Educational Diplomacy: A Bridge Between Nations
Rector Çiftçi further highlighted the role of educational diplomacy in fostering global peace and understanding. “Educational diplomacy and mobility will bring countries closer together in the future. We, as Çankırı Karatekin University, are committed to collaborating with all our resources and continuing to support our international guests,” he added.
Cultural Activities Showcase the Rich Heritage of Çankırı
Throughout the event, guests had the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural heritage of Çankırı through excursions organized by the Erasmus+ Coordination Office. Participants enjoyed city tours, visits to local historical sites, and the chance to sample the region`s unique culinary offerings.
