International cooperation between ÇAKÜ and University of Granada, Spain

A cooperation protocol was signed between Çankırı Karatekin University and University of Granada. The protocol aims to develop cooperation between the two universities and to realize student and staff mobility. Çankırı Karatekin University Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi stated during the bilateral agreement meeting that they will work to develop and increase cooperation between Çankırı Karatekin University and University of Granada. Pointing out that Granada University is one of the most established and deep-rooted universities in Spain, Rector Çiftçi stated that with this agreement, academic staff will be able to carry out scientific activities and projects with their colleagues in Spain.

Prof. Dr. Pedro Mercado Pacheco, Rector of Granada University, stated that they are pleased with the development of relations with Turkey and that they aim to develop bilateral cooperation with universities in Anatolia and that ÇAKÜ will be a pioneer for this goal.

Rector Çiftçi stated that they are very pleased that Spain has recognized Palestine as a state and that Turkey is always on the side of the oppressed. In this context, Rector Çiftçi stated that opposing the injustices taking place in the international arena together will benefit all humanity. During the meeting, Rector Çiftçi pointed out that the history of Granada University goes back to the Middle Ages, to the establishment of the Yusufiyya Madrasah in 1349 by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada, and that it is considered one of the most important universities in the world in terms of its historical value.

During the meeting, it was noted that the University of Granada is ranked in the top 3% of national and international ranking organizations, and according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), it ranked 278th in the world. Underlining that the University of Granada is the third largest university in Spain, Rector Çiftçi emphasized that the university is at the forefront of national and international research and is among the top 5 universities in the world, especially in the fields of computer engineering and artificial intelligence.

The University of Granada, which hosts the region`s most ancient library dating back to the 15th century with its extraordinary heritage, is said to hold ancient manuscripts and many priceless printed works. While the rare works in the university library are kept in a secure area, it is stated that over 8,000 volumes of works have been transferred to the digital archive and made available to all humanity. The library contains a wide range of works ranging from science to astronomy, especially works of religion, philosophy, and social sciences.

Rector Çiftçi stated that they would be pleased to welcome the administration of Granada University, the most ancient higher education institution of Spain, to ÇAKÜ, which undertook the mission of the first Darul-Hadith of Anatolia.
